Types of Clubs at Nait

Ready to find your people or explore a new passion? NAIT student clubs come in all shapes and sizes. Here’s a quick guide to the types of clubs you can join:

Open Membership Clubs

These clubs are open to all NAIT students — no specific program or year required.

  • General Interest Clubs
Based on hobbies, cultures, religions, or any shared interest. You don’t need to study a certain program to join, though being in a related field might add to the experience.

  • Academic Interest Clubs
Focus on areas connected to academic programs or professional fields. A great way to connect classroom learning with real-world interests.

  • Chapter Organizations
Student chapters of not-for-profit national or international organizations. Being part of one can help you build networks beyond campus.
Limited Membership Clubs

These clubs have some restrictions, often based on academic programs.

  • Student Councils
Represent students within a program. Membership is typically limited to students in that program.

    • Combined Year Councils: Include students from all levels (first to fourth year).

    • Fixed Year Councils: Membership is limited to a single graduating year.
