Sponsorships
Sponsorship is a great way for clubs to receive support while building real-world connections. It’s a mutually beneficial arrangement where a company or organization provides a benefit to your club — often in exchange for marketing, recognition, or exposure.
How to Get Sponsorships for Your Club
Sponsorships can provide valuable support to your club — from funding and prizes to discounts or in-kind services. Here’s a quick overview of how to get started:
- Research potential sponsors. Look for businesses or organizations that align with your club’s mission and student audience.
- Create a sponsorship request letter. Clearly explain who you are, what support you’re looking for, and how the sponsor will benefit. Use our ready-made Sponsorship Letter Template to help you craft a strong request.
- Reach out and follow up. Send your letter via email, drop it off in person, or submit it online if the sponsor has a form. Be patient and follow up as needed.
What Your Club Can Offer In Return
In any sponsorship arrangement, your club should offer value back to the sponsor. Think of your club like a campus influencer — you’re giving the sponsor visibility with students.
Some common ways to give recognition include:
- Adding their logo to event posters.
- Tagging them in social media posts or stories.
- Mentioning them during your event.
- Sharing or handing out promotional materials.
- Including them in event recaps or thank-you posts.
Tips for a Successful Sponsorship
- Be clear about what you’re asking for and what you can offer in return.
- Keep communication professional and timely.
- Follow through on your promotional commitments.
- Document your agreement (even if it’s casual).
- Reflect on what worked — and thank your sponsor.
There are two types of sponsorship your club can pursure:
1. Financial Sponsorship
This is when a company or organization gives your club money to support a specific event, project, or your club’s general operations.
Clubs can request help from NAITSA Campus Clubs to invoice sponsors using the Club Sponsor Payment Form on ookslife.ca. NAITSA Finance will issue and send a digital invoice to the sponsor, and once payment is received, the funds are credited directly to your club account.
Processing time:
Allow 2–3 business days after the Campus Clubs Finance Supervisor leaves a comment on your form for NAITSA to issue the invoice.
2. In-Kind Sponsorship
This is when a company offers goods, services, or discounts instead of money. Examples include:
- Donated prizes or gift cards.
- Discounts for club members or event attendees.
- Free food, printing, or venue access.
- Promotional items or swag.
- Coupons or discount codes.
You don’t need to report in-kind sponsorships to NAITSA Campus Clubs, but we love to hear about them. Feel free to tag us on social media or email askclubs@nait.ca to share your club’s success story.
